Overview
Liberon Superior Decking Oil is ideal for the protection of both old and new exterior decking. The oil formulation feeds and enhances the natural beauty of your timber whilst offering high levels of water resistance. It's perfect for reviving and restoring the colour of weathered and greyed decking and contains UV filters that will prevent fading. This decking oil can be quickly recoated in as little as 15 minutes so your decking can be finished in one day. It is also suitable for fences, sheds, and hot tubs.

Preparation
Always ensure the surface to be treated is clean, dry, and free from any dust, algae, fungi, or moss.
- To clean decking give it a good brush with a stiff broom to remove any dirt, debris, or loose wood.
- Check the surface of the decking for loose screws or boards and ensure these are tightened.
- If the decking has been previously stained, painted, or varnished, we would recommend stripping it back to the bare wood. For previously stained decking you can use .
- If your decking has been affected by algae, fungi, or mould it can be cleaned with .
Note: Most new decks come with a bit of waterproofing protection. This could stop the stain from sticking. To avoid this, give your new deck a good scrub with . Alternatively, leave it to weather for six months.
Application
Before applying the product test a small area on the surface to be oiled to ensure you are happy with the finished results. Oil finishes bring out the natural colours of timber. A wet surface will be an indication of the final colour.
Softwoods
- Apply with a brush or roller.
- Apply the oil generously and allow to penetrate for 15 to 30 minutes.
- Apply a second coat.
- Continue to apply until the timber no longer absorbs the oil, older timbers may require more quotes depending on the condition.
- Wipe off any excess with a clean, lint-free cloth.
- Allow to dry for 24 - 48 hours before use.
Hardwoods
- For new hardwoods leave exposed for 12 months before applying a finish.
- Apply in very thin coats with a clean cloth.
- Remove any unabsorbed oil off the timber with a lint-free cloth.
- Apply further coats until wood no longer absorbs the oil.
Note: Always follow the manufacturer's instructions found on the tin.
Aftercare & Storage
Cleaning
Keep your decking clear of debris to prolong the finish and frequently clean any build up grime and mould. For general maintenance use Liberon Tough Deck Clean and Revive.
Maintenance
We recommend applying 1 or 2 coats of decking oil once a year as a routine maintenance for areas of high traffic reapply as required.
